This Privacy Policy explains how AniComment handles account data, anime metadata, watch progress, subscriptions, and community activity on the hosted AniComment service.
Information we collect
AniComment stores the account information you provide during signup, including your email address, username, display name, and optional avatar or bio details. It also stores activity you create in the product such as watch progress, favorites, follows, list membership, comments, reports, and notification state.
Anime metadata
Anime catalog information shown in AniComment comes from AniList and is cached in our database to improve performance and support episode discussion routing. We do not claim ownership over provider metadata, cover art, banner art, or related franchise information.
How we use data
We use your data to operate the service, protect spoiler visibility based on your progress, show your lists and profile, deliver in-app notifications, support moderation, and troubleshoot abuse or operational issues. We do not use AniComment to host anime streams or downloadable media.
Visibility and sharing
Some information can be visible to other users depending on product settings and the content you choose to post. Public anime pages, discussion threads, and public lists may be visible to guests. Your private lists, private notifications, and account-level settings are intended to remain restricted according to application permissions and Supabase row-level security.
Email and notifications
AniComment provides an in-app notification inbox. We may also send transactional email such as account verification, password reset, billing, or service notices through our configured email provider. Some notification features may remain in-app only.
Service providers and infrastructure
AniComment is operated as a hosted online service. We may use service providers such as Supabase for authentication and database infrastructure, Stripe for subscriptions and billing, AniList for anime metadata, and other operational providers for email, monitoring, or translation support where enabled.
Data retention and deletion
Account and activity data may be retained as long as needed to operate AniComment, enforce moderation decisions, maintain audit logs, preserve discussion integrity, comply with legal obligations, or resolve billing and abuse issues. We may delete or anonymize data when it is no longer needed for those purposes.
Contact and changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. If we make material changes, we may update this page or provide notice through AniComment. Privacy questions should be directed to AniComment through the support or contact channel provided on the service.
